Michelle R. Smith, J.D.
Formerly in residence in our Greenwood Village office, Michelle is now of counsel, and works on special projects from her new home in Dallas, Texas.
Michelle earned her Bachelor of Arts in History, with honors, from the University of Texas at Arlington. She received her Juris Doctor in 2002 from the University of Utah S.J. Quinney College of Law, where she participated in the Traynor Moot Court Competition and was recognized for providing over 50 hours of pro bono services to the Senior Law Project.
While at the University of Utah, Michelle completed an internship with the U.S. Department of the Interior, Office of Hearings and Appeals, where she clerked for Administrative Law Judge Harvey Sweitzer. Her internship focused on the settlement of Native American estates and related probate litigation.
Michelle also served as a graduate research assistant to Professor Lee Hollaar at the University of Utah, for whom she reviewed and edited the intellectual property treatise, “Legal Protection of Digital Information” (BNA Books, 2002), in addition to providing research and preparing cases for use within the work.
